As the leaves change color and cooler temperatures settle in, we reflect on our progress
through the fall months. In September, we welcomed the state licensing team from the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) for our annual inspection. I am pleased to report that we successfully completed the licensing process, which included an on-site inspection and record review.
On October 3rd, we were fortunate to have volunteers at several of our homes for the United Way Day of Caring. Their efforts included yard clean-up, mulch application, and tree removal. We are grateful for the ongoing support from the United Way and value the impact of this event on our community.
We also held our first Family/Advocate Forum on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. During this meeting, we discussed key departmental information and statistics, the current state of our workforce and the staffing challenges we are facing, as well as details regarding Performance-Based Contracting set to begin in 2025. Thank you to all the families and advocates who participated; we plan to continue hosting regular forums throughout the upcoming year.
Our homes have been bustling with activities and events. Special Olympics bowling and swimming events have commenced, and we are excited to engage in Best Buddies and Harmony activities as the PSU semester gets underway. This time of year is particularly vibrant, with numerous holiday celebrations on the horizon. We are looking forward to Halloween parties, Thanksgiving gatherings, and Christmas festivities, which foster connections among individuals and their families. We are also pleased to announce that the Food Bank will again be donating Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to our homes this year, a valuable resource we deeply appreciate.
Additionally, our Holiday Party is scheduled for Monday, December 10, at Harvest Fields, where residents and staff will gather to celebrate. We anticipate a visit from Santa and a gift exchange, adding to the joy of the evening.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support of our individuals and our dedicated staff.
