Strawberry Fields recently celebrated its annual holiday party, a much-anticipated event for residents in our intellectual disabilities residential program. Carrie Walker, program manager, coordinated this beloved event, bringing together residents, staff, and a dedicated team of volunteers in a festive atmosphere.
The festive gathering featured a classic holiday feast, with each residential program demonstrating their culinary skills by providing a unique side dish. An amicable competition for the title of 'best side dish' persists annually among the programs. This season's offerings included mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, seasoned carrots, and corn. The discussion regarding the most delectable dish is still very much alive.
Volunteers Dale and Linda Walker roasted three turkeys, ensuring everyone could have a hearty helping.
The evening was filled with laughter and merriment. Residents took part in a gift exchange and had a surprise visit from Santa and his elf, who brought not just holiday cheer but also thoughtful gifts for each of our residents.
